Florida/Georgia Biosafety Meeting

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

WorkingBuildings recently attended the first annual Florida/Georgia Biosafety Meeting, and is happy to announce the success of this meeting. The goal of the event was to discuss the formation/ re-invigoration of SEBSA, the biosafety chapter in the Southeast, with some major biosafety players in attendance. WorkingBuildings’ Debra Sharpe and Tiffini Lovelace were in attendance, representing our laboratory compliance and operations branch.

UF Director of Genetics Dr. Ken Berns was the keynote speaker, along with many other excellent speakers, like Dr. Greg Christy from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Service, and ABSA Representative Ed Styger. In attendance were Biosafety professionals from the private and public sectors, in addition to excellent vendors like Germfree and HOK. The agenda covered everything from IBCs to viral vectors to biosafety cabinet certification and more.

This was a great meeting, and we can’t wait for next year’s event!
