(Atlanta, GA October 31 2012) In an effort to promote and highlight safe laboratory practices, WorkingBuildings has awarded The Elizabeth R. Griffin Foundation, a non-profit 501-c-3 organization dedicated to the support of safe and responsible research, a new grant. The Griffin Foundation was selected as recipient of this grant due to their on-going efforts to create safe and responsible laboratory environments. The grant will support costs associated with the Foundation’s advocacy of safe and responsible research, and signifies WorkingBuildings commitment to safety in laboratory facilities.
The Elizabeth R. Griffin Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of Elizabeth Griffin, who died as a result of exposure to a pathogen in the laboratory where she worked. The Foundation works globally with various laboratory entities to develop and implement safe research practices that enhance public and animal health. Headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee, the Foundation is regarded as an international leader in advocating and implementing appropriate risk assessment and mitigation strategies in biological research.
WorkingBuildings services focus on the laboratory sciences arena, providing consulting and commissioning services for facilities supporting science and technology missions including high containment facilities.
