(Washington, District of Columbia, USA, October 31, 2011) In 2009, President Obama signed Executive Order 13514, dedicating the Federal government to increasing energy efficiency and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. In response to Executive Order 13514, GreenGov was born.

Starting in 2010, GreenGov is a 3-day event, bringing together members for the Federal, state, local and tribal governments, nonprofit and academic sectors and the private sector to identify best practices and cutting-edge approaches for sustainability.

The WorkingBuildings Companies is happy to announce that Director of Operations and Principal John McFarland was invited to participate in this groundbreaking event. In conjunction with Liz York, Jennifer Hazelman, Josh Silverman and Christine Baglin; John discussed Comprehensive Climate Metrics. This panel had an in-depth conversation about tracking greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental data. John focused on the work performed for the CDC, including the development of software to aid in the tracking of the Federal government’s environmental footprint.

The software, CxAlloy EcoScale (ES) addresses the Federal governments inventory and reporting needs to comply with mandated regulations. John was an active participant in the development of this software. “I’m very excited to be involved in the discussion around further improving the energy efficiency of the Federal government,” said John, “This forum will lead to new solutions to in setting reduction targets and more convenient ways to reduce and conserve our natural resources.”

The conference took place from Monday, October 31st to Wednesday November 2nd in Washington, DC. John and his colleagues presented Tuesday, November 1st at 10:30 AM. This was a great event, and The WorkingBuildings Companies is excited to have been involved.
