Debra Sharpe, MPH, CCHO, RBP, of WorkingBuildings was recently invited to attend and speak at the 3rd annual ICLS Biosafety and Biosecurity International Conference in Amman, Jordan. The conference was held from Tuesday, September 13th to Thursday, September 15th. The aim of the gathering was to identify and mitigate the biological risks threatening the region’s communities. The need to develop biosafety and biosecurity strategies was at the forefront of discussion. Ms. Sharpe was asked to contribute to the talks, speaking on sustainability issues surrounding the fields of biosafety and biosecurity. With participants and experts from over 29 countries in the MENA region, the conference engaged members of the international community. The different perspectives and specific knowledges brought by this group led to an enriched and successful conference.
WorkingBuildings is proud to have been involved with the Biosafety and Biosecurity International Conference, and we look forward to next year’s event. Ms. Sharpe found that not only was she able to share her knowledge, but came away with a greater understanding of the current challenges and needs facing the research and public health community of the MENA region. WorkingBuildings feels more fully prepared to provide assistance in meeting those challenges. With the continued efforts of organizations like the ICLS, the Griffin Foundation and others, and with the support of governments like Jordan’s, we can build safer and more secure communities, prepared to face the biosafety challenges ahead.
