Facilities Maintenance and Operations Technician (10971)

WorkingBuildings has an immediate opening for a Facility Operations & Maintenance Technician. This position will work in a large Public Health Laboratory facility. This position will be required to have multi-craft skills to include Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC and Mechanical skills. Additional required skills are in carpentry, painting, etc. This role is responsible for general maintenance tasks and other related areas within a large consolidated clinical laboratory type environment. ***This position is located in Ewing, New Jersey*** After hours rotating call-in coverage will be required of the successful candidate. May be required to work overtime, including occasional weekends and holidays.This is a 1st shift position- (9:30 am - 6:00 pm)
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily operation of HVAC and mechanical systems
- Assist with the daily operation of Chiller Plant when required
- Assist with the daily operation of Energy Management and Control systems
- Assist Manager in meeting operating and financial goals, facility objectives and laboratory needs
- Assist with daily CMMS (CX Alloy FM) and office administration tasks as assigned
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- HS/GED required with 8+ years maintenance and operations experience in a healthcare, pharmaceutical, or clinical laboratory setting
- Strong sense of customer service and the ability to work with and support other departments as assigned
- Should have an in-depth knowledge of boilers, steam systems, oil/gas fired hot water heaters, chillers, pumps and motors. (Black Seal Preferred)
- General knowledge in the maintenance, operation and repair of cold rooms and refrigeration. (Universal Refrigeration Certification Preferred)
- Must have strong working knowledge of building automation systems, preferably JCI Metasys, Phoenix Laboratory Control Systems and REES monitoring systems
- Experience in the maintenance and operation of laboratories. Preferred experience in BSL2 and BSL3 laboratories
- Experience in the repair and maintenance of Air Handlers, Exhaust fans, Lab fume hoods, HEPA filter housings, air compressors, and Ultra Pure water systems
- Troubleshoot systems or equipment and make repairs to minimize downtime and enhance systems reliability
- Knowledge of Fire Protection systems
- Seek to continuously improve and develop maintenance practices to enhance systems and equipment reliability
- Experience in preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
- Develop lists of required spare parts for equipment and systems to reduce or eliminate downtime
- Ability to respond effectively to changing demands
- Must have strong organization, communication, and time management skills
- Must be a US citizen
- A Criminal History Record Background check will be performed to determine eligibility for employment. This is required as this is a State Facility, as well the sensitive nature of the work performed at the facility
- Computer literacy including but not limited to Microsoft office software
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety guidelines
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to bend, twist and stoop
- Ability to climb ladders, work in hot or cold environments, work in confined spaces; wear full face, half face and positive pressure respirators
